Had some time to get to grips with my graphics tablet a bit more, and this third sketch is the result. Its pretty rough around the edges. Still a long way to go with anatomy and perspective.

Another quick test run with the tablet. I think I bit off more than I could chew with regards to the pose, I've definitely got a lot to learn in regards to perspective and anatomy.

Picked up a cintiq recently and finally managed to sit down to give it a go. Just a quick simple sketch for now, drawing people is really not my forte but definitely enjoyed giving it a go.

Not quite brave enough to tackle skin-tones and complex lighting yet tho, maybe give that a shot later down the line.

Sketchbook 1 # Page 44 by Drake-UK
Sketchbook 1 # Page 44
Page 44 of my travel sketchbook, I wanted to doodle out a simple landscape concept that ended up turning into some kinda castle. Lighting was an afterthought so its not realistic, but overall it turned out a little better than expected. I used some brushmarkers to try and blend a gradient effect into the sky, not tried it before so its a bit rough.

================================================================

Since I've been massively busy with studying etc that I haven't had a great deal of time for photos lately =<

So as to not neglect dA, I thought that I could share some random sketches from my little sketch book. These are typically done on the train during my daily commute, so they're not overly tidy. I don't really plan anything out and just sort of make it up as I go.

The book is pretty small overall, the paperclips should be a good reference to the size. Drawn with Graphik line markers and shaded with brushmarkers.

Sketchbook 1 # Page 42
Page 42 of my travel sketchbook, didn't know were this was going when I first started and just started with a cube shape and went from there. Tried adding some colour with a few sharpies I have lying in the bottom of my pack, but I kinda regret it since it turned out a little sloppy.

Wow feels like an age since I've added a journal entry.... well no time like the present I suppose and hopefully a worth while update to end the hiatus.

I've been particularly busy in recent months with work and other such engagements but that doesn't mean I've been letting the snapper gather dust, quite the contrary and I've a whole host of different themed shots to post so keep an eye out !

Some great photos and galleries Drake. One question though, do you own all the airsoft/replicas you have taken pics of.

Thanks !

Yeah, they've all been through my possession at one stage or another. Being in the game for as long as I have many have since been sold or traded on over time, so the collection I own at any one time changes quite frequently (save for rare and special pieces).

Note: there are a few reenactment shots and displays in the gallery that are not mine, but they are labeled with the event name in the description.

Christ. How much do you think you have spent over the years? As a WWII re-enactor I know kit isn't cheap and with a side interest in airsoft I also know that looking at your kit they seem to be at the higher end of the quality stakes

Honestly I don't dare think about it, as I imagine its an eye watering number !

The funny thing is most of my kit (gearwise) has never ended up in pictures, so whats on display in the gallery is only a small percentage of that...

Speaking of WWII I remember putting together a 101 Airborne loadout (the full shabang with corcoran boots etc) years ago and it was insanely expensive, I think it was probably the only set of kit I've sold on for more than I'd bought it for.

Drake can you post a gun collection picture?

It would be pretty underwhelming sadly. A lot of the photos here have been taken over of a long period of time, and many pieces have been swapped and sold on.

Regrettably the collection is at an all time low.

Naa I wouldn't go that far, at one time I did have a large collection but as you can imagine they took up a lot of space. So to make space and gather funds I started to sell and swap out older builds for newer guns that became available.
