Galil MAR by Drake-UK Galil MAR by Drake-UK
Another unusual little gun this month although admittedly it belongs to my brother this time round.

Pictured is King Arms replica of the IMI Galil MAR (micro galil) and its pretty slick and very compact.

Only realized this version of galil is 5.56mm after I had taken this photo which makes the scattered shells redundant since they're 7.62 but shhhh hopefully nobody will notice.

Real Steel Blurb

The most recent addition to the Galil family of weapons is the MAR compact carbine, which retains the internal features of the original Galil with a completely new frame, operating system and an even shorter barrel. Introduced to the public at the 2nd International Defence Industry Exhibition in Poland in 1994, the weapon was developed for use with the army and police special units, vehicle crews, army staff, special operations personnel and airborne infantry.

Hm, I wish I could get a real Galil, but the only one I know of that's open to the civilian market is some low-quality copy called the Golani, from Century Arms. :/

Is that the golani sporter or something ?

Thats a pity are they banned in all states as I think I remember some advertised for sales a while back through some company called action arms ?

I think it's a sporter, yeah.

Huh? No, as far as I know, they aren't banned. It's just that the only Galil I've ever found available to the civilian market is that one. I mean, we're allowed to have all sorts of rifles, like AR15s, AK47s, AK74s, FALs, PTR91s, RPKs, etc. We can't have anything fully automatic, of course (unless you go through all the paperwork, and pay the thousands of dollars in fees to the BATFE). I just don't know of any Galil/Golani rifles that I could get aside from that low quality one.

I see, I have seen a few for sale in the past while browsing around sites via google (in and around the $3.500 mark) but I assumed when you said you wish you could get them that they where banned in particular states or something similar.

Ouch...that's a lot of money. I could never afford that. I could get a HK MR556 for a lot less than that, and I'd rather have that than the Galil/Golani in the first place. Anyway, no, as far as I know, the Galil/Golani rifle isn't banned in any particular states (I could be wrong). Rather, my state is a more "gun friendly" state, and there isn't much in terms of limitations. In the last state I lived in, Maryland, there were some annoying laws. For example, you can't have magazines with higher than a 20-round capacity there. Certain guns are also banned or restricted there, most of which are for very stupid reasons, such as them being stereotypical criminal weapons, like AK47s and such. Of course, you can get those guns in Maryland, but you have to do the proper paperwork before they'll allow it. Others, like the Tec-9, are banned altogether.
