Magpul Masada by Drake-UK Magpul Masada by Drake-UK
Photo Taken with a Canon 300D Rebel with stock 18-55mm lens.

Pictured is an A&K replica of Magpuls Masada modular assault rifle in flat dark earth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The original Magpul Masada design represents an amalgamation of several recent rifle designs, incorporating what is considered by its designers to be the best features of each in a single, lightweight, modular rifle platform.

Design features from the Armalite AR-18 (short-stroke gas system), the FN SCAR (upper receiver, charging handle location), the Heckler & Koch G36/XM8 (liberal use of polymer components), the M16/AR15 (trigger pack), and the M16 (barrel, fire control group) are clearly prevalent.

The rifle also includes several features developed by Magpul, such as a quick-change barrel/trunnion system, adjustable gas regulator, non-reciprocating charging handle, and storage compartments located in the stock and grip.

The rifle was originally named after the Siege of Masada. Magpul company literature about the rifle states that, "Magpul Industries is not Jewish owned or Israeli backed, however Magpul has always found the story of the Masada as a bold example of defiance." When production rights were signed with Bushmaster, the Masada name was dropped from the product.

I believe from what I read that at the start it was a collaborative effort between both (they are sister companies) but for actual manufacturing now its Bushmaster.

Thanks.

The masada is essentially a prototype / proof of concept to the ACR.

Here is a pic of the ACR for comparisons sake [link]

The Magpul Masada is the precursor to the ACR before it was updated and licensed by bushmaster.

I have the more up to date ACR in my gallery as well [link]

but essentially it's an ACR, it's like trying to call out the differences between an WASR 10 and a nornico AK, it's the same thing...

No essentially the ACR is a masada as the masada came first in the development chain.

You can hardly call the masada an ACR when it came about first, that like calling the M1 garand an M14.

that's not the same, you can argue all you want, all it is is name brand, an acr is an acr, and an sks is an sks, no matter what you call it. i can understand if there are radical design changes in the trigger assembly, or the receiver, but there aren't any major significant changes.

Theres little need for me to argue and to be fair I'm not the one who came looking for one, I'm merely pointing out the information you can read straight for the horses mouth via both magpul and bushmasters own websites if you wish.

The masada is the original concept by magpul and the bushmaster ACR is the result of a licensing agreement between magpul and bushmaster who would take it into production.

If you google "magpul masada" and "bushmaster acr" you'll see how the bushmaster design differs from the original masada.

I'm gonna get the plain basic folder of the ACR (I like the hand guard much more than the enhanced model) and then get the picatinny rails that Magpul sells haha. Then hopefully I can get an Aimpoint CompM4s sight with a 3x magnifier scope with that mounted on a LaRue pivot mount haha gonna cost quite a bit, all together it's gonna be like $3,400-$3,800 haha

Good way to think about it, it'll take a while to get up the money, but if I get a job applied for I'd be able to get one in about 3 months, and still be able to get other stuff haha.

I'll definitely take a pic of it with it's gear on, but I probably won't take it till I shoot a few hundred rounds through it.

I particularly dislike saving months for something since I'm pretty impatient but I've had to bite my tongue and save for the last few months to afford my latest addition ($813!) but its actually pretty satisfying when you finally have enough !

Be sure to check that the selector group has been updated as I hear there was a re-call by bushmaster just before Christmas because an issue that caused some of the civy versions to go full auto.

Yea, same... man wouldn't winning the lottery be really nice? haha

I think that the new ones that they're shipping out are just fine, though it would suck to pull the trigger once and have the bullets keep firing haha.

Good lord man, that is a sexy ACR. I've been dying to get one but all the models in CA/U.S. are all sold out. No surprise... Would you happen to know a pretty good place to supposedly order an ACR that's not bad for it's price? Thanks man, and lovely ACR. Magpul rocks!!

Nice shot. Red-dot or ACOG ?

Question : Where did you buy it ? A friend searched it, and he found it in asian shops. Did you bought it here ? (WGC, Redowlf ...) Or did you find another shop, but not in Asia ?

Its x4 non illuminated acog.

I actually managed to pick mine up from a store in the Republic of Ireland (eirsoft.com) and to the best of my knowledge there are a few stores in the UK stock them also although I cant remember which (landwarrior airsoft?).

Hope that helps =]

Thanks. We're French, so buy it in Asia is very expensive ... Buy in the European Union is better than it.

Thanks again. =)

Had a look about for you.

Landwarrior only seems to stock the G-P licensed version now in DE/BLK but they're quite expensive.

Eirsoft.ie also stock the G-P version but they are out-sourced from HK but if you email them and ask nicely they might have some of the "unoffical" ones left in-stock.

Almost the same set up as I have on mine. Except I don't have the killflash on my TA31, but I have a quick-release mount.

The PEQ15 looks great on the Masada. Ive got to get one, what brand did you get?

Hi thanks for the comment.

I went with the VFC peq15 as from what i've heard its the closest to the real steel dimentions. However it'll take a bit of modding before it will fit a green laser unit and such as there is no pre-drilled holes.
